![]() It is estimated that only one third of people struggling with depression receive treatment. Between 20 (the most recent years for which robust meta-analyses are available) the number of people living with depression worldwide increased by more than 18 percent. The World Health Organization estimates that approximately 322 million people – more than 4 percent of the global population – currently live with depression, the most common mental health disorder worldwide. Depression is a neuropsychiatric disorder characterized by negative mood, loss of interest in doing things, and metabolic, hormonal, and immune disturbances that can degrade a person's quality of life and increase their risk of disease and death. ![]()
